I shot this buck on November 28, 2023 on the old farm. I climbed into big willow tree that had a large branch that was about 8 feet off the ground. I was in a piece of property we call the “The Triangle.” As soon as I was on the big tree limb, I set down my muzzleloader. Not even a minute later the buck came sneaking down the edge of the railroad track. Before I could reach for my muzzleloader, he was under 5 yards from me and getting closer! It was impossible for me to get my muzzleloader so I pulled my pistol from my hip holster and shot him at three yards! He spun and ran back where he came from.

There was no blood trail as I hit him high in the front shoulder with no exit wound. He died within 30 yards. I found the pistol slug in the opposite shoulder where it stopped after going through his heart. An Amazing Morning in the woods!
