The story of “blackie” started on July 2 when the first encounter happened. He led us on a spot and stalk journey over the coarse of the next 9 days. There were many miles of hiking and creeping thru the Tom Miranda bow camp in the Limpopo region of South Africa to try and get within range of this old boy. After many failed attempts to get in range…. After pulling many thorns out of the bottom of our boots…..After experiencing the highest of highs and the lowest of lows that come along on any hunting adventure and almost having to walk away….. it all came together with 15 minutes left in the last effort before wheels up at Johannesburg airport to fly home!! As that arrow broke free from the bow and for what seamed like a lifetime as that arrow was flying free ….it was all out of our hands now!! When the arrow hit its mark and did its job all the blood, sweat and tears came full circle!!! An experience like this can only be lived in person!! Words and pictures will only do so much to describe the emotions, the views, the smells, the lifelong friendships that will forever be imprinted in our souls. Until next time Africa!!!!
